About Danny Jonokuchi & The Revisionists
The Revisionists are a New York City-based swing band, led by Danny Jonokuchi, that performs for the international Lindy Hop community. Fueled by a love of dancing, their music has been described as “smile-inducing” (DownBeat) as well as “crisp, clean, and refreshingly joyful” (Syncopated Times). Their passion is to play an eclectic repertoire for swing dancers. Jazz icon Stefon Harris praised the band for “allowing the music to be of service to dance.” In 2020, they were unanimously named the WINNERS of the inaugural Count Basie Great American Swing Contest for their virtual performance of “One O’Clock Jump”.
The band’s debut album, “Let Me Off Uptown”, is available on all streaming platforms and features original numbers and songs made famous by Ella Fitzgerald, Anita O’Day, Billie Holiday, and many more. The album features some of New York’s finest instrumentals and also shines a light on vocalist Alexa Barchini who has been described as “a star in the making” (Syncopated Times).
With the spirit of the Savoy Ballroom, their vibrant performances have quickly made The Revisionists one of the premier dance bands in NYC where they have filled dance floors at many venues including the New York Transit Museum, Swing 46, Hudson Yards, Brooklyn Swings, The Swing Remix, The historic Abyssinian Church, You Should Be Dancing, Secret Room, The Players Club, and The Django. Other notable performances include the iconic Guggenheim Museum’s 60th Anniversary and the closing party of the Tiffany & Co. Flagship store. Members of The Revisionists have traveled the globe to play at international Lindy Hop events including Snowball (Sweden) and Jeju Swing Camp (South Korea), Swing Out New Hampshire and Beantown. “Soon I expect them to conquer the world” (Syncopated Times).
