About Devra Seidel

Devra Aviva Seidel is a classical pianist, actor-singer, teacher, and musical director currently living in New York City. Prior to the pandemic, she was working as an accompanist and vocal coach. In the wake of Covid, she began teaching Zoom theater classes for kids and has continued vocal coaching virtually.

Devra has performed as an accompanist and chamber musician throughout New York City, playing for various festivals including Planet Connections and the Midtown International Theater Festival. For five years Devra was the musical director for Kids Company Showcase at the West Side YMCA, a children’s after school musical theater program she helped create. While earning her Masters degree at the Manhattan School of Music, Devra organized a chamber orchestra and performed as soloist in Beethoven’s 4th Concerto. She has been described as “a consummate pianist… who is passionate about music and creating art.” Favorite acting roles include: Rosemary in How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof, Anne Frank in A Diary of Anne Frank, and Elizabeth Lavenza in Eric‘s Sirota’s Day of Wrath with Emerging Artists Theatre. Devra recently produced, wrote, and acted in a short film.

Mrs. Seidel has a Bachelor’s of Music from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and a Masters of Music from the Manhattan school of Music. She is thrilled to be part of Ocean County College’s Friday afternoon recital series. A huge thank you to longtime friend Brian Gilmore.
