About The Show
The Maccabeats are an extremely unique Jewish a capella group made up of 14 men that uses their clean cut, unadulterated voices and a little Jewish humor to connect with fans of all ages and backgrounds from Alabama to New Zealand and everywhere in between. They were originally formed in 2007 as Yeshiva University’s student vocal group but have emerged as a Jewish A capella phenomena boasting over 20 million views on You Tube, numerous TV appearances and four successful Albums, 2010’s Voices From The Heights, 2012’s Out of the Box, 2014’s One Day More and 2015’s Maccabeats Hanukkah.
The Maccabeats are strongly committed to the philosophy of Torah-u-Madda, the integration of traditional and secular wisdom, which is evident as they perform an eclectic array of Jewish, American and Israeli songs. Audience members can expect to hear pieces such as Lecha Dodi which combines some of the most beloved words of Jewish Liturgy and Leonard Cohen’s melodic Hallelujah. Audience members can also expect to hear covers and parodies of contemporary hits using Jewish themed lyrics.
The Maccabeats caught the attention of numerous organizations throughout the world. They have played sold out shows to the thousands at JCC’s, temples, synagogues, Chabad’s, Hillel’s, Jazz clubs, festivals conventions and theatres spanning five continents and over 30 states and provinces. They have been invited to Gracie Mansion by NYC mayor Michael Bloomberg as well as the Whitehouse by former US President Barack Obama.
Congregation B’nai Israel is thrilled to bring the amazing music of the Maccabeats to The Grunin Center in Toms River, NJ. It is guaranteed to be an exciting musical afternoon.
