This week’s featured presenter: Chisa Yamaguchi, Creative/Production Director & Producer, #IMPERFECT

During this Facebook Live, Chisa Yamaguchi will talk with Jaclyn Wood, Education and Community Engagement Coordinator, about our forthcoming residency of #IMPERFECT. Chisa will discuss details about when Drew Dollaz, choreographer and flexing pioneer, will be in residency for a week, honing choreography; hosting movement workshops; and performing his original work, #IMPERFECT, which draws parallels between childhood bullying and inherited traumas carried down through our lineages. This work considers how the cumulative scars of oppression can allow racism, sexism, and homophobia to manifest and will challenge students and teachers to identify underlining social problems.

About Chisa

Born into a multicultural family, Chisa simultaneously celebrates her passion for tradition and innovation. Her desire to discover, collaborate, and deepen her connection with people, place and planet has taken her to 6 continents whether embarking on community service projects, undertaking family pilgrimages, or gracing historic stages and theaters as a professional dancer. Driven by intuitive nurturing and a zealous need to contribute joy to the world, she avidly advocates for multi-disciplinary practices and creations as the means to dissolve perceived barriers to open emotional and physical pathways to truth, justice and love. Fervently on a mission to align her personal power with her professional values, Chisa brings her caring presence, grounded discipline and conscious listening to everything she undertakes and creates. Her latest projects include Production/Tour Director/Producer for Love Heals All Wounds (Movement Art Is) and Creative Producer on Carnival of the Animals by Wendy Whelan and Marc Bamuthi Joseph, which is currently in development.
