The American Soldier

Sep 15, 2026 7:00 pm $0 Grunin Center

As part of the VA New Jersey Health Care System’s Veterans Resilience Arts Trail for Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, VA New Jersey Health Care System and OCC’s Veteran and Military Resource Center are proud to present The American Soldier.

The American Soldier is a powerful one man performance that brings to life the real struggles of American service members at war, as well as the courage of veterans and their families as they work to return home and reintegrate into civilian life. The show is based on actual letters written by veterans and their loved ones, offering an authentic and emotional look into their experiences.

The production has earned an Amnesty International Award nomination and has been performed at prestigious venues including The Kennedy Center (2016, 2019, 2024), the Library of Congress, two Off Broadway theaters (59 East 59 and New York Rep), the New York Federal Reserve Bank, and the American Legion’s National Headquarters. It has toured more than 38 U.S. cities and has been featured in major outlets such as The Washington Post, Huffington Post, Broadway World, Playbill, Military Times, Washington Times, and Time Out. VA New Jersey Health Care System and OCC’s Veteran and Military Resource Center look forward to welcoming you to this moving and nationally acclaimed performance honoring the resilience and sacrifice of those who have served.
